The Role
Senior Commercial Insight Manager at SO ENERGY
Reporting into our Marketing Director Michael Campbell, 👋, we’re looking for a Senior Commercial Insight Manager to join the team.
The Senior Commercial Insight Manager will coordinate market research and analysis to support business decision making and growth. This role will oversee external research into customer, competitor and market dynamics; undertake analysis to support brand, acquisition and retention marketing and lead on commercial forecasting.
This role requires strategic thinking alongside strong analytical, research and communication skills. It will play an important role in influencing product development and marketing strategy to drive improvements in commercial performance.
This role will work closely with colleagues across Marketing, Product, Data, Technology, Trading and Finance as well as external partners and research providers.
What you’ll be getting up to:
- Lead So Energy’s market research, customer insight and commercial analytics to inform and guide commercial strategy.
- Support So Energy’s wider commercial strategy as required
- Line-manage the Commercial Analyst, coordinating workloads while supporting and encouraging their development.
- Conduct market and competitor research to observe trends, understand market dynamics and identify opportunities.
- Gather insights into customer needs through analysis, surveys, focus groups and interviews to inform marketing plans.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor commercial key performance indicators.
- Undertake analysis into brand, sales and retention campaigns to evaluate effectiveness and suggest improvements.
- Perform partner analysis, cohort analysis, campaign analysis and CLTV analysis, evolving analytical models as required.
- Encourage a culture of testing and optimisation across the business, developing robust test plans and documentation.
- Work with agencies, media partners and research providers to collate and align third party reporting and analysis.
- Oversee the robust implementation of analytics tools to enable reliable and actionable data capture and analysis.
- Take ownership of sales and retention forecasting, collaborating with colleagues to improve processes and outcomes.
- Support the development of business cases with robust data to inform new initiatives and prioritisation discussions.
- Proactively communicate insights across the business to encourage decision making based on facts and evidence.
- Present recommendations to senior leadership and crossfunctional teams to influence strategy and resource allocation.
- Work closely with the Technology and Data teams to ensure open, transparent and productive collaboration.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, tools and methodologies and make recommendations on evolving best practice.
What are we looking for?
- A strategic commercial insight professional with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Energy sector experience preferred, but not essential.
- Proficient in conducting data analysis in SQL and data visualisation using tools including Looker.
- Proven experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and marketing effectiveness research.
- Ability to configure analytics tools e.g. GA4 is a bonus.
